Bulls

Industry to Watch

  • Healthcare

    • Let's be real, healthcare is on the up and up. With the mRNA COVID vaccine expect more novel innovations to come. I'm bullish on the healthcare industry, especially in those R&D companies focused on immunizations, diabetic care, and cardiac and pulmonary health.

United Therapeutics may not seem like a great value, its price is near its 52 week high, but this company continues to innovate and has far exceeded expected earnings each Quarter in FY20. I expect this stock to just continue going up. The Leadership team is strong and humble - just take a look at their caricatures! This company is going to continue to innovate and grow, it's a no-brainer for me. I look to the health of their pipeline of new development as well as their overall company culture/leadership to continue to grow.

  • Leadership team and culture of innovation

  • Good track record of FDA approvals

  • Long list of new pharmaceuticals in their pipeline (multiple at Phase 3 trials)

  • Value-creating biotechnology model

AbbVie had a bit of a loss in 2019, but they've turned it back around since then. They've got a good pipeline of treatments and research as well as some promising research for use of their current pharmaceuticals for other medical issues. This is a good buy, but worth tracking month to month.

  • Good leadership team

  • Promising biologic treatments

  • Upward trends since 2019

Medtronic has been in the news for multiple devices for nearly everything. They've been on a nice linear positive trend for years. They were impacted by COVID pretty hard, but have now reached their pre-COVID mark. I expect a lot of value to be gained still for them. By their job listings, they seem to practice Lean Manufacturing practices, which is good for value creation.

  • I like their leadership team

  • Lost a lot of value from COVID but continues its upward trends now

  • Tons of new products and innovations in nearly every health issue

  • Seems to practice Lean Manufacturing methods
